Sail North Increases Fleet Purchasing Two Vanguard 420s
Sail North was formed to raise funds for the purpose of encouraging and supporting youth sailing in the communities of North Kingstown and Jamestown and to support the North Kingstown High School sailing team. In 2020, Sail North was able to purchase two very well maintained 420s from the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club with the proceeds from the 2020 Jambalaya Dinner. A big thank you to all who purchased tickets, bought auction items, and made donations to support our fundraising efforts. Our youth sailors are very grateful to you!
The 420s used by the NKHS Sailing team and the vessels will also be available for charter to local sailors and sailing programs during the summer.
Thank you to the Wixted Family for volunteering their time negotiating the purchase of the vessels from VHYC and transporting boats back to North Kingstown. Also special thanks to former NKHS Sailor Alex DiCenso for volunteering his time to help get the boat safely back to North Kingstown, RI.
NKHS sailors Dixon Wixted and Odey Hariri tested out one of the 420s in NBYA Regatta #1 in Newport, RI. They placed 2nd out of 27 boats.
Thank You To Our Friends At RI Mooring Services
Our coach/support boat was refurbished this past fall and we would like to send out a big thank you to our friends at Rhode Island Mooring Services for helping us get the job done. Alex and Mark helped us get the boat off the trailer, blocked and ready to be stripped, barrier coated, and painted. Without their help, this would have been an impossible task.
Thank you to Alex, Mark, Jeff, and Philippe for all your time and effort. A special thank you to Richard the marina owner for volunteering his services to help us make this happen.
RI Mooring Services is located at Quonset Point, a great place to keep, launch, or get work done on your boat.
