The Narragansett Bay Yachting Association (NBYA), is a collection of 30 yacht clubs, sailing associations, sailing organizations and individual members from around Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. As a member of the New England Yacht Racing Council and the Committee of Sailing Associations of US Sailing, NBYA is part of the governing body of sailing. The organization was established in 1938.
Sail Newport is home to New England's largest public sailing center and is considered Rhode Island's premier public sailing site. Sail Newport’s mission is to promote and operate affordable public sailing instruction, rental programs and to create opportunities to attract new sailors to the sport.
The organization works to achieve this mission through a wide range of programs and events, geared towards providing an equal level playing field for all sailors. US Sailing sets the course enabling sailors to enjoy the sport for a lifetime.
The Wickford Sailing Association trains youth and adults in the art and skill of sailing. Through hands on experience and classroom instruction, the program produces well rounded sailors who safely enjoy their time on the water.
Kids age 8 and up (or turning 8 by 12/31) can learn to sail this summer at the Saunderstown Yacht Club. The club offers beginner, intermediate, non-racing and racing classes. Membership at SYC is not required to participate in the sailing program.
